Mendlesons in Dayton, Ohio. They buy truckloads of closeouts. Going to Dayton many times over the years for training before NCR left I spent much time there. The third level is where all the good stuff is at. Half of the top is electronics. Vacuum tubes to resistors, early 1900s to present day. The other half is machine tooling and industrial. Best thing is they deal and sell most stuff by the pound. Here you can get mills, reamers, drill, special fixtures and anything you can imagine. Plus stuff you did not know you needed til you found it. :)

Skycraft in Orlando, Florida. On the side of downtown. Military and NASA surplus. Impressive selection for a smallish store. They have had space shuttle parts there in the past.

http://www.acmeindustrialsurplus.com in Sanford, Florida. Have not been but after checking out the website will be going to that area on vacation sometime this year. Tools, metal and looks like everything else.

http://www.surplussales.com - Mostly electronics but they have military surplus and machine tooling from time to time.
http://www.surplusshed.com - Lot of telescope and optic parts and measuring tools.
http://www.speedymetals.com - Metal supplier
http://www.onlinemetals.com/ - Metal supplier
http://www.alcobrametals.com - Metal supplier
http://www.caswellplating.com - Aluminum anodizing supplies and metal plating supplies.
http://www.yadro.de - parts to build your own customizable DRO.

Looking for a good source for drill bits

I like to keep several bits of each common size (HSS number, letter & fractional in jobber lengths) on the shelf so a broken bit doesn't kill the momentum of a job in progress. However, I recently lost my within-driving-distance source so now I'm looking for a good mail order supplier that doesn't mind small orders and won't break my bank*. Can any of you recommend a good seller?

I recommend on a regular basis:

http://www.polar-tool.com/ They sell new and used tooling and test equipment in MPLS plus they sell on Ebay.
http://www.handh.net/ They sell used and rebuilt electrical parts
http://hqtinc.com/ They sell Bridgegport and Millport parts, lube systems

I have been buying things from Amazon.com lately. I never knew they sold everything so cheap..I had thought they only sold books until my son turned me on to them.

I also buy from online auctions that are here in MN. One is
http://www.hoffonlineauctions.com/ I have really good luck buying from this company. They sell mostly machine shops

http://www.penntoolco.com
Penn Tool Company, in Maplewood, NJ, USA

Good selection of new machinist tooling and accessories. Good guys to deal with with respectable prices.
