I just watched the video by Stefan Gotteswinter where he modified an insert for PG 13.5 threads that will be used for a part going into a bioreactor. It appears this is a common thread for sensors used in bioreactors. I am curious why this thread is used, a search did not turn up any useful information. Does anyone know why this thread form was chosen for these sensors?

This video was just modifying the insert, he will be posting another video of making the actual part.

A quick DDG search done.

I am gonna guess a proprietary thread for a reason.

I came across the picture below of a small reactor vessel that is packed with sensors. Since the PG threads were made for thin tubes in conduit, I’m wondering if that thread was selected so that they could use a thin wall on the sensor since it appears they needed to make them as small as possible. The things I think about when I am unmotivated to get work done around the house lol.
