Hey Guy's and Gal's,

On the-Old Style Hardinge DV-59 with slide on and clamp spindle Head.
How do you remove and install new v-belts??

Ken.

I have an Elgin version of the DV-59, but happily all the belts are good. Speaking from minimal experience and no manual, changing those belts probably involves spindle disassembly...unless you're using flat belts. They may be old fashioned, but they are very practical!

My Elgin sits on a massive but steam-punkish variable speed drive, and those belts are good shape, too. Virtually nothing but a Hardinge faceplate and cross-slide came with it. The slide was a bit of a challenge to take apart the first time as the oil had solidified making it "one piece" and I'd never done it before. Should you find a manual (that can be copied), it would be really nice to see on the site.
