[Lathe] Old F. E. Reed 14 inch metal lathe

Looks like it could be an good usable machine, and to the left of the steady rest is a follow rest. The 4 jaw chuck is a real oddity with it's jaw design, the way the jaws stick out past the chuck body and the slot in the side with the square shaft on the front face, I'm thinking that it may be a combination chuck that functions both like a 3 jaw and 4 jaw type, that is that the jaws can function both independently and as does a 3 jaw chuck. As to value, I'd think somewhere around 1K$, and that if everything works properly.

Thanks for the feedback. Everything does work well on the lathe (from what little I have played with it). I added some pictures of some tools (Micrometer, etc). I will post it locally on craigslist and see if I can find someone who can utilize this old lathe. Thanks again.

1K sounds like a good start, add $500 if you have the tombstone change gear case.

Glad to have you on the forums.
I am new to the hobby machinist and I am not a machinist.
Many people here used to say that.....
