i was going to build a toe jack for lifting lathes and such but decided to try the spreader with a porta power. Works like a champ. I used it to lift the headstock end of my 2200 lb lathe. Works great for tight access where you can't get a pry bar. Plus you can lift and shim without help. Thought I would pass this on so maybe it will help others in the same situation.

I have one too, works like a champ. Just recently used it to move three lathes, along with several pieces of 1/2" pipe as rollers, too. Can't beat it. One thing to remember, it limits out at about 2200-2400 lbs. of lifting force even though the pressure gage only reads about 4000 psi.
