Any guide lines about llubing work? I get the WD on aluminum, but what about turning steel or stainless?

Also lubing steady rest points .

Any tips on what and when to lube on the machine.
Thanks

I've only ever used water soluble cutting oil. I can mix it how I want or need it and simply squirt it on with a squirt bottle. I just bought a mister so that is what I will be using from now on.

Used to be white lithium grease on centers and steady rests, but I don't think it's available any more.

When I was in trade school, we used white-lead. White lithium grease is readily available. There is also "never seez" and other brand extreme pressure lubricants for steady rests and dead centers

Oops, that's what I meant, the white lead. The Alzeimers is kicking in.
