New (to me) mill, what size breaker do I need?

Exactly! The panel breaker is to keep the insulation on the wire in your walls from melting and catching fire burning your place down... nothing more. The motor on your mill probably has its own thermal overload protection, that is not what panel breakers are for.

P.S. I run my 1.5hp Husky 8x30 mill on a 20 amp (12 gauge) 120v circuit and have never had a problem. I have never bothered to switch it over to 220v. My Lincoln 225 mig runs on a 20a 220v circuit.

I am converting all of my 220 Tools to 4 Prong Twist Lock because they are so much easier to un plug. I also am using 4 Prong plugs on my 3 Phase tools for the same reason.
