New Lathe Thursday

Bidding war. I wish we could know. Who knows what the next lowest bid was - maybe $500 - I paid $1609 + tx. But I'm really happy so far - the ways are good and it's not exactly tool gloat but I'm happy. What kind of shaper do you have? That is the only thing left that I really want to find - I sold my beautiful 12" Hendey 10 years ago when I moved.

Looks like you got a good deal on the lathe, I haven't even been close on any bids I've made in the last couple of years, I bid what I think would be a reasonable price. You mention a Colchester Student, I picked up one a few years ago from them, has considerable wear but better than the Taiwanese lathe it replaced.
I found a Logan shaper a few years ago, nice little unit, does what I need but 12 or bigger would be stiffer for the odd stuff I gets used for. In the process of rebuilding the variable speed drive right now.
