A new forum has been started for Steam Engine fans:

http://www.classicsteamengineering.com/index.php

From the site:

"The Classic Steam Engine Engineering Forum was thought up by member Pete who was looking for persons interested in a forum dedicated to steam engines, with a great deal of technical material, and engine designs and builds that were loyal to the original steam engines built in the 1,800's and early 1,900's. The consensus was that there is no forum that addresses steam engines in the width and depth of knowledge we desired.

After several weeks of discussion, and other friends expressing their interst in such a site, it was decided to attempt a forum dedicated to classic steam engines. For many, I think steam engines are a hobby, but I think many in this group go beyond the hobby experience, and are truly passionate about steam engines of all types.

The founders and supporters of Classic Steam Engineering are a diverse group of individuals scattered across the world who share the dream of creating a forum that is dedicated to illustrating the various types of steam engines, and attempting to build accurate scale sized engines from these illustrations.

The goal is to understand, document, build and display engines that are true to their original design, materials, appearance, etc.

A more general and ambitious goal is to support a wide variety of steam engine types on a single forum, including stationary engines, marine engines, launches and their engines, locomotives, traction engines, etc., so that the information can be centralized and accessible to all interested parties.

Historic preservation and restoration is certainly supported by this site.

If you are interested in old steam engines, and care about the finer details of their design and construction, then you are in the right place."

Enjoy!
