Need help, advice

Ok guys ametuer at machining here so dont laugh.

Using my bridgeport and the pictured r8 head with the type cutter pictured last i want to cut down ( bore) bout .700 with a width of .500 in a circle leaving the center portion exposed ( kinda like a moat around a castle). This will be be in a round piece of aluminum. My question is....is there a cutter made like the one pictured that has the carbide extending for the entire width of the cutter head versus just a portion of it?

Looks like a lathe job without a lathe...

Using boring bar backwards, cutting on inside, clever and doable.

Instead of using a boring bar, look for a end mill that will fit your head.

It will flex less, will not cut all the way across but it may give a better finish, straight flute needed.

Or, get a rotary table, rotate the part against a normal end mill in action.

I do have a lathe and tried to cut it using a smaller version of .250 versus .500, there was too much tool chatter so i decided to move up to .500 wide.

I also have a rotary table and could use a .500 end mill.

I thought this other way would be easier and quicker if i could just find a round cutter that would cut the entire .500 diam.

I did find a cobra #37640 cutter but they want 60+ bucks for it. I was hoping to find another cutter more reasonable. I guess as a last resort i'll use rotary table with end mill. You'd think there would be a cheaper cutter

Since you have a rotary table, that is the best tool for the job.
