I have picked up a couple DC Treadmill motors that I plan on using one of the motors to convert my 14" bandsaw to a variable speed metal-cutting bandsaw; while the other one will be used to drive a 2x72 belt grinder that I will be building later. One motor is 3HP (3k+ RPM), while the other is 1.75HP (4k+ RPM). I am having difficulty deciding which motor should be used for which project. I plan to use SCR controllers to adjust speed as opposed to pulleys. At the moment, I am leaning towards using the 1.75HP motor in the bandsaw, as I think I will want the extra power in the belt grinder. I would love to hear your recommendations, and the reasons you make your suggestions. THANKS!

you are write use the smaller 1 for the band saw, i have done several band saw conversions and that hp is sufficient. Use the mc60 treadmill control if you have one.
