Need a book

Is there a book out there that has info on machining like speeds for what material, what bit does what how to do this how to do that. I have a copy of American Machinists Handbook . This book is way over my head. I need something fo a Dumb ass. Thanks .

An excellent book for beginners is the South Bend book " How to run a lathe"
Tells you everything you need to know in plain english, nothing too technical!
