Moving machinery

My mill weighs 3900 LBS I picked it up with my little one ton utility trailer, nothing like being nearly a ton over loaded, (look at those 8 ply tires with 75 PSI in them)

Rented a fork lift and unloaded it like this.

set it down 90 degrees fro the way it needs to sit. we relifted it with a chain on the eye on the top of the arm, spun it

Set it down on a balance plate as my floor has a bunch of fall in it.

So right about machinery skates . Use only 3.... Forth one will get you in trouble.

Well sure, if you have a fork lift...
If not, I have moved my Bridgeport by using a come along from a rafter, supporting the rafter with 2x6 legs to simulate an A frame. Rolled and wedged the mill into position, lifted it from the hoist ring and lowered it onto a low car mover trailer.Unloading, the same process in reverse, but I lowered the mill onto a pallet jack. It was easy after that, and I left the mill on two 4x4s. This raises the mill, which is better for me, and let’s me use the jack again if it’s ever necessary to relocate.

My lathe is less than 1000 pounds, and I can lift, load and unload and reposition with my Harbor Freight engine hoist.
