I took my Colchester's apron apart to clean and paint and found substantial wear to the worm gear shaft, lead screw bushings, and worm gear bushings. I will make new ones, but I don't recognize the material for the lead screw bushes. What material do you recommend for the shaft? I think I have some hot-rolled bar that will work, but if I have to buy something, what would be best - 12L14?

What are lead screw bushings made of, and what are your thoughts on me boring the existing ones - assuming there is sufficient material - and pressing in new bushes? Bronze, sintered bronze? I attached pictures of my parts and the manual exploded view if it helps. The bushings for the worm gear are bronze.

Most commercial bushings are made of 360 bronze, I would not use sintered (oilite)for shafts, I'd go with 4140HT.

You are correct, my mistake; 932 is not familiar to me, I do know that 954 is aluminum bronze and too hard for soft shafts, I think what I meant to say was 660 bronze.

Thank you both!
