I built these tools several years ago. They are for spill timing the fuel pumps on diesel engines.
The degree wheel has a plunger in the centre to centre it on the crankshaft and magnets to attach it to the damper or pulley on the end of the crankshaft. The mag base attaches to a machined surface on the engine and is adjusted to the zero on the degree wheel.
I don't remember how I made the joints. They have worked very well. I should probably disassemble them to see how I made them.

I made some very much like those some years ago. Never drew anything up though. That would make a nice project to show the group. They look nice.
