Made new half-nuts

Indeed, well done. For those of us that haven't done one before, could you describe the basic series of operations needed? I have a glimmer of an idea, but would appreciate a brief explanation. Thanks.

First I made a nut out of 1 inch OD bronze hollow-bar. It is 20 mm dia. 6 TPI Acme thread (LH of course). And disassembled the machine to test that it fit the lead screw OK. The ears are brass flat bored to fit a shoulder on the nut, then soldered in place. Used the mill to trim things up, then cut it in half with the band saw. Back to the mill to skim the saw cut.
To mount one, I'll disassemble the machine again to clamp the mating part in the drill press to follow the existing hole for a roll pin.

I have the Midas 1220 XL and in the process of making some sort of lead screw nut. 1220 does not use a traditional half nut. This is the set up on the 1220.

I think for the short term some thread repair epoxy. Might do the derlin/plastic melt a thread method.
I would still need to buy better grinding wheels , HSS blanks and few other tools to even attempt.
Im trying to avoid spending money on this machine. I dont mind spending money on tools and learning but funds are in the negative for a while.
