There have been several who have made a Z axis drive with a cordless drill. This one I built with a piece
of annealed truck axle. It works quite well and not that difficult to make with a rotary table. My table
is 90 to 1 and used a 49 hole dividing plate to make the 7 divisions. My 1/2 inch Milwaukee M-18
seems up to the task and is able to run the table up and down with several hundred pounds on the table.
