[Newbie] Looking For Info On This Lathe

Well it looks like there isn't much out there on that one. This is all I could find.

The motor is not stock that is modified. That said price and what you want it for is the main factor.

Got to love that huge Variac above the motor 
The bed is amazingly wide, though I'm not a fan of double v-ways on general principles.
You can always retrofit 3phase and a VFD if the AC motor turns out to be weak at low RPM.
Hard to pass up if the price is right and the ways are straight. I would hate to try and scrape them in if they are not

Is there threading gears with it? Are the ways worn? And price. It is old .

My guess is it's a mid 1920's Sebastian lathe.

I don't believe Sebastian made a bed with four vee ways. Plus, it's too old for Sebastian. Could be wrong.
Only American and New Haven had four vee ways on the bed that I can recall.
There was a thread on this on another forum several years back, when I get time I'll look.
There was something about the end of the bed, the way it was cast that made it unique to others out there.
The date this was born I would guess late 1800's, 1890 something to mid teen's, 1915 or less.

EDIT: Did find a reference on another forum. Holescreek may have it correct. There is a picture of one that is very close to yours that is a Sebastian lathe. I take back everything I've said.
Check out the legs and see if there is any lettering on them. Ken

Looks like it was made by the strong Carlisle & Hammond company, or possibly Prentice brothers.
