Anyone know where to get a repair manual for a Lincoln Ideal arc
300/300 stick tig machine?

It has five settings for power. And then a fine adjust knob for power
levels in between. this broke. All it does is full power for each of
the five main levels.

As an alternate, anybody know of a deal on a DC stick/tig welder? if i
can't fix it, the cost is more than its worth to have a tech. repair
it.

Is the pot broken? You should be able to replace that with no problem. If that's not the problem, then check the diodes on the board, one of them is probably shorted.

It is usually the pot is bad, they are cheap and available at larger welding suppliers

ADD I agree the pots are usually what burn out. Or like jim said a shorted diode I've found they blow when shorted easy to find the burned ones. Not like a motor when ya let the smoke out its done these can be fixed cheaply and easy too.

I'll tear the machine down to see what I can see.

Tore machine down. pot runs smooth from 0 to 12K ohm. Other ideas before the scrap man gets it?

I will really miss this old girl. She deserves a better fate.
