Leveling a 949 Pm mill

Precision Matthews recommended shims, any other options?

The four holes on our (added in edit) PM 949T's cast base were threaded for 18x2.5mm, but the diameter was greater than it should have been so the depth of the threads was less than I wanted to support the weight of the mill. I ran a 20x2.5mm tap through them and used these leveling feet from McMaster-Carr on these 20x180x2.5mm bolts from Fastenal. I used high strength red locktite on the feet attached to the bolts and a small amount of anti-seize on the mill casting threads. Levels the mill well and seems solid.

Here's an approach similar to David's. I'm very happy with it. 1"x3" bar. No need to use the threaded portion on the mill - threaded the bar stock. 20210210_073955.jpg20210212_0147_DxO.jpg

I like the wider footprint and leveling is very easy.
