Some alternate terms:

Where it says Saddle, I might use apron. Saddle also is referred to as carriage

Topslide is also compound or compound rest

Yep Nels,
The saddle is generally the top part that straddles the ways. As is the apron, is usually the front part that carries the handwheels and levers. Together they make up the carriage.
