My "mentor" found an old Columbian vise which he said had been under his workbench for at least 30 years! The lead nut and jaws were worn smooth but I found a lead nut, made it fit and cleaned and painted. that how i got my big vise only i had to weld it back together though, someone tried to us it for a press and broke it.
