Looking for some different pattern wheels for my pinch style knurling tool. Not sure of the make but it uses these wheels that have a 10mm shaft and are fixed ( see below photo ) does anyone know where I might be able to find these
From my experience, you need to know bore diameter, outer diameter and face width (thickness of the wheel). Once you have that data to hand, it is fairly easy and a case of choosing between straight knurl or diamond knurl. You then have to decide between fine, medium or coarse.
You do have Circular Pitch (TPI) or Diametrical Pitch to consider though as well as straight edged, bevel edged or convex.
According to the "MSCDirect webpage" (<< link) they state the following:
"There are two pitch systems for specifying tooth spacing on a knurl.
Circular pitch is based on the distance between the teeth per inch (TPI). It is measured along the wheel from one tooth point to the next.
Diametral pitch is based on the number of teeth per inch of the wheel’s diameter. They are designed to permit accurate tracking on standard fractional sized blanks"
