Knurling Tool

I think he is saying the knurling wheels come from a defunct company and he purchased the knurls before they closed production down. Sure is very nice work.

Hi,
Sorry, I've not seen the answers something doesn’t function with my mail box, those wheels on the picture are effectively from a closed company, sometimes especially for the clockmakers or for antique technical instruments I make forms reproducing an existing profile, mostly are made with 30° conical mills which were certainly made for that use, I've found a lot of those mills in diameters from 6 to 20mm in old stocks.
When I have a little time next days I show you how to fix the wheels for a specified result, the steel used if you want to make a lot of work has to be heat treated under gas or with the old method of heating in carbon powder (not easy for me to explain…) and when it's for soft material or just some wheels I use ETG 100 steel which is very easy to oil harden with a propan torch(never with oxy-acetylen torch !).
