Decided to get a upgrade from my harbor freight 6" bench grinder . Got a Jet JBG-8A Bench grinder. I'm happy with this grinder so far but not sure about the stock wheels that came with it . Needed to reduce the 1/2" square end a little...nothing high precision. I Re shaped a hex to 1/2" adapter bit for my cordless impact driver. The half inch end had a ball bearing to lock onto impact driver sockets . On the square side, Three sides ground easy but the fourth side with the ball bearing put a valley in the wheel ...then the ball bearing popped out . Should I have not tried to grind right over the ball bearing ? I wasn't pushing hard either. I've got a diamond dresser for the wheel but wondering if I should just get a better wheel or what. ..Thanks in advance

I suspect that the ball bearing, being free to spin, acted as a wheel dresser instead of being ground at the same rate as surrounding metal. Not the wheel's fault. Same would have happened with any wheel.
