New-to-me older white 1340A that visually looks little used. The bearing(s) on the bottom shaft the my gearbox are seized. And one of the shafts above it doesn't rotate very easily. Looking at it, it seems a miracle that the entire box isn't seized. The proper oil level is only about 3/4" deep, and it appears only 2 of the gears on the bottom shaft touch it. I don't understand how those 2 gears could possibly sling oil on the rest of the gears and bearings. Note the arrow in the photo. That line is where the oil level is suppose to be.

I've looked at photos of similar lathes and most/all have sight glasses located much higher up on the gearbox, and consequently much higher levels of oil. So I'm confused as to why this one is so low.

Does anyone else have this model? Have trouble with the gearbox?
