I converted this old Jensen 35 electric fired boiler over to run on gas by removing the heater element that was kaput
and drilling some holes in the firebox to allow heat out and oxygen in to the gas flame. I also soldered some copper
pipe into the two exhaust outlets and ran them down to a copper pot condensate collector I fashioned up.

There's a lot of fun to be had with these old gems and a lathe and a mill.

Nice work Jim,
There's something about smelling real steam and oil when running these engines. Is the burner a commercial unit or something that you fabricated?

There really is a very nostalgic smell from steam and oil (especially if you had a engine as a kid).

The gas burner is a BIX brand burner that I imported from the U.K they are especially made for toy/model steam and the refillable canister can be refilled from a camping LPG can.
