I have acquired a "Great Captain, Cutter Grinder Machine, Dia Bowl 8" made by Murahashi MFG Co Ltd, of Gifu Japan.

It seems to be a well made machine but just needs a bit of TLC.
It came with a indexing head and Tailstock, and a small assortment of collets

This is not a style of collet I am familiar with so if anyone recognises it could you let me know some more about it.
The tailstock "may" have had a modification done to it as it have extra mounting holes drilled in its base but slightly offset from the original.

The indexing head came apart pretty straightforward, and apart from some surface rust it seems to be in good condition.

There was no oil inside the housing, apart from what was on the surfaces, but it sure smells like old oil! Any suggestions for recommended oil after assembly?

Cheers Phil

Interesting rig. Unusual name "Great Captain". I bet there's an interesting story there somewhere. Looks like it should be a pretty versatile Machine. Mike
