Jacobs 16N Super Chuck Gloat

I got this 16N ball bearing super chuck from a guy for $10. He said he couldn't find a key to fit it so it was useless junk to him. I brought it home, put it in the press and pushed the sleeve on to where it belongs. Now a #4 key fits perfect.

Whoh that's a serious score! Funny how he owned it, but didn't bother to press it on? Wow! Good for you!

It certainly opens up possibilities for someone to able to fix things yourself.

When I first looked at I didn't realize the sleeve wasn't all the way on either. It wasn't until I got it home and tried a #4 key that I saw what the problem was. I only had to move it about 1/16".

When the sleeve is not pressed on properly, you can see the chuck body coming out of the top.
Sounds like someone tried to rebuild it or didn't press it back on all the way.
Either way, you have it now. How did you press it back down?
