Your cheapest bet would be to visit your local Harbor Freight and get a 2 ton folding engine hoist or the adjustable overhead gantry crane.

I got the engine hoist, though it needs a new wheel...

Their gantry is too big and expensive when not on sale, like $600 (I think $500 on sale).

Look at the character of the old Canton or Mantley crane. They sure don't make them like that anymore! It's perfect for my shop.

I wish I had seen this three weeks ago. Two of these Cantons were at the Davis Auction in Prospect Ct. They didn't sell either of them, no buyers. There is another Auction in September. PM me how much you are willing to spend.

There is one at the Almelund Threshing Show here in Minnesota.
Sitting out back of one of the barns. I doubt that the drool which I liberally applied has deterred the ongoing rust.
