I got a call from a customer saying that his hydraulic sausage stuffer is not functioning correctly.
i took a look and found that the control valve actuator fulcrum had failed due to excessive wear in the captivating pin and the fulcrum.
the fulcrum is a stamped piece of 16 gauge galvanized sheetmetal with a couple holes in the right places.

the customer wanted it quickly so i decided to make the part rather than wait for one to be shipped out
i cut some 7/8" Square 12L14 on my power hacksaw and laid out the holes and channels to be milled

after the milling operations,
i flipped the part and drilled the 3/16" holes for my shop made retention pins

Here is a shot during fit up

here is a shot of the completed fulcrum.
the only thing left is to install 10-24 nylock nuts to the 3/16 fulcrum pins
i replaced the spool valve pin with a new 3/16"x1" spring pin due to wear.

with any luck, the new actuator fulcrum will outlast the OEM.
it is definitely heavier in construction :big grin:

Thanks Silverbullet!
i try to make replacement parts better than the manufacturer whenever possible. :)

Yeah, that'll never wear through. Haha! Nice work!

I love chorizo!
Shouldn't the original part be stainless? Food industry and all?

Hi RWM,
luckily the control valve (and all the hydraulic and electrical apparatus) are in an enclosure.
there is no direct interface between product and controls, the hydraulic actuator shaft has a bellows type seal.
i guess that's how they were able to get away with the galvanized stamping.

i like the idea of the SS actuator, i may just produce one for fun- now that there is no emergency!

That would be one heck of a way to keep your customer....show up with a replacement SS actuator at no charge!
