How can I sharpen a hollow punch on my mini-lathe?

Can I just hold a whetstone against the punch tip at high rpm? How about using a Dremel tool with a stone grinding bit while using the tool post to steady the tool? Would the stone bit need to be against the back side of the punch to provide opposing rotation between the punch and stone bit?

You can make a sort of tool post grinder if you fab a mount for the dremel. If it comes to hand holding it I'd think the stone would be safer.

A decent file should make short work of it. If you want it sharper than that a diamond hone will get you razor sharp. Mike
