I have a hole on the HF 8x12 Lathe that was drill off center about half way from where it should be. What is a good method to repair such. The new hole has to be the same size. I was thinking of hardware grade 2 bolt jammed in the hole and cut off, then re-drill and tap ?

That should do the trick. I would add some red locktite or some epoxy to the bolt.

I finally milled the hole oval, double the distance, so that the oval center was true center, then ovalled 90 degrees to the same OD, so that I could drill and tap for a bolt that would not have any of it's thread cut into as I re-drilled and tapped the original size. I cut the the top and bottom off the bolt as bolts are case hardened, before inserting it as the plug. It turns out that a Grade 2 bolt is slightly harder than cast steel.
