I'm trying to design a brake, clutch, and fwd/rev tumbler so I don't have to start/stop the motor so many times.
This might not sound that great, nor safe (asbestos) but for a spindle brake, couldn't I use a disc and brake caliper on the back of the headstock and spindle?
I've searched the internet and haven't found much for this lathe. I've seen good tumblers on the 9x20 lathes.
