HF 8x12 just arrived

8 x 12 VS 7 x 10

Still getting it all put together and I need to know:L

Is the bed on a HF 8x12 the same dimensions as the bed on a HF 7x10 ??

Nope, they are completely different machines.

Thats too bad as I am having problems finding accessories for the 8x12. I can find lots of things for the 7x10. Maybe I should have purchased the smaller lathe..

Specifically I am looking for a steady rest and I was thinking of buying a cheap accessory for the 7x10 and cutting the "foot" off of it to build a base for a home made steady rest.

Oh well, back to the drawing board.

The 8x14s may not be as popular as the 7xs but IMHO they are much better lathes.

LMS has the steady rest as well as the follower too.
