My HF mini lathe had had 4 instances of the bushing seizing on the stub shaft. One ran for a long time several not. It has done this with threading gears or standard gear configuration. I am sure I am doing something wrong, these parts cannot all be faulty, so any ideas????

Thanks,

Joe

I guess I would make one out of oil-lite bronze. Should be able to find something close at your local hardware store. Maybe drill and cross-drill the shaft and put a grease fitting in it.

Thanks Jim,

I have some oillite bearing rod in route for another project, sure would not hurt to try.

Sounds like your stub is just a little short & when you tighten the screw/washer it is locking the bushing. Try taking a few .000 of the length of the bushing.
