Hi There, I thought I would share a project that I have been working on, I have 3 Hercus 260 geared headstock lathes that I am currently rebuilding, overall they are in good shape, really just need repainting and going through a few things, they look like they may have had a rebuild at Hercus just before being decommissioned from school use, all of the usual worn parts have been replaced and the beds have had a regrind, the other thing with these is they use a seperate drive shaft set up for the apron, they run a leadscrew and a feed shaft with a switch at the gearbox to change between the 2, these are designated as DGMLH (Double drive shaft, Geared headstock, Metric gearbox, Long bed (49") Hardened ways). I have put up a photos of the lathes and the apron, I will put some more up as I finish stripping them down further.

Very nice, I wish I could import one! :)
Is that an underdrive machine? Motor in the cabinet below?

The motor is on the back, there is another cover that goes on there. The only under bench drive unit that Hercus did in the smaller lathe was craftsman 9". That is mine in the picture as well, it came from a University and has been converted to metric.
