I reassembled the gearbox with new bearings and seals...
...and have it mocked up on the lathe...
This gearbox was removed from a 12 inch Hendey... the lathe is a 14 inch... I didn't think it was going to work. The gearbox sits about two inches farther back than it should, and I thought the flat belt was going to rub the 'tie bar' on top of the headstock. After mocking it up, I discovered that there is still plenty of clearance...
Now I need a motor. I have three motors available... a 1 hp 120v motor, a 2 hp 230v single phase motor, and a 3 hp 230v 3 phase motor... I'll probably use the 2 hp...
