My 9" headstock and spindle aren't in good shape. The casting has some serious grooves and the spindle has also. Is there a rebuild procedure for this?
I'm not sure if there is much you can do without spending lots of money- from what I have heard the surfaces can be quite ugly but not affect the accuracy of the lathe too much..

Stone off any high spots and don't worry about the grooves. Set the bearings properly and do the bearing adjustment test. It will most likely work just fine.
