A person on a forum I was on 10 or more years ago wrote this easy program "GearCodeIt". He sent me a copy of it and I used it to make many gears. I cannot find it. Has anyone heard of it, used it or have it? I would like to get another copy.
Thanks

He was Shorty Leatherwood on the Yahoo Sherline Group around 2007. Sure was a good program.

If you can describe a little about what it did that you liked, I am sure that someone here can recommend (or produce) a replacement.

He went by Hobbynut on that forum. It was for 20 and 24 DP. You chose which you wanted, entered the number of teeth you wanted at 20 degree angle and it wrote the gcode to single point cut the gear.

I did some more poking around for this......but did not find anything useful.....

Someone talks about it here:

but based on names, I think it just might be you!

I checked the Internet Way Back Machine and found an archived page:
https://web.archive.org/web/20131029162138/http://www.leatherwoodplayground.com/machineshopqcgb.html

It has a reference to the program, but unfortunately NO copy of the program!

I tried!

Thanks for looking brino. I dug out an older laptop with VISTA on it and the program worked like a champ. It does more than 20 and 24 DP gears

Since it was previously shared on the web, is it something you could upload here for others to use?

I had to go back to a VISTA operating system notebook to get the program to work again. I could not get it to work with Windows 10. The program was written back in 2006 I think. It works flawlessly for me.
