I've got a 14"x 96" SB and I'm confused about the gearing. Look at the attached images...the plate for feed speeds show a 24t and 48t stud gear for the lead screw...Ok so far...
Pull the cover off and there is a 48t that is not engaged but a 64t that is used and provides the correct lead screw speeds...

Waass up with this??? What am I missing?? Something isn't making sense to me...

THANKS!
Paul

The 48 tooth is stored on the end of the shaft like that. It replaces the 24 tooth at the top when you are cutting the very course threads. The 64 tooth stays where it is always

Yep, stud gear usually means a gear on or near the spindle, not the leadscrew gear
