Obviously a full sized bridgeport is going to be capable of cutting much faster and deeper cuts than a small benchtop mill. My mill is a LC-30 Taiwan (Long Chang I think) weighs about 650 lbs, with CNC conversion. I'm curious how others are making out when milling mild steel and trying to do it as fast as possible with similar smaller mills?

When milling steel I use 4 flute end mills and I have found that better quality and sharp end mills make a world of difference and using smaller 6mm or 1/4 endmills seem to be strong enough to cut at a decent pace with little to no vibration, while larger 1/2 -5/8 endmills tend to cause a fair bit of vibration.

So for example when using a 1/4" end mill how fast are you guys able to go; depth of cut, feed rate and spindle RPM?

I also want to try the serrated edge roughing cutters, how do they compare?
