I brought a number of second hand end mills at auction - larger size, cheap, I figure good for practicing regrinding/sharpening on.

Two of them are three flute drill bits, 14 and 12mm diameter and they are heavy - like carbide heavy. Tried sharpening then on my normal grinder and they ground an edge but not at all like HSS, but they did seem to grind which i wouldn't expect from carbide.

For comparison from left to right: 14mm drill 150 grams, 12 mm drill 128 grams, for comparison 12mm HSS End Mill 58 grams - so these are heavy.

Only markings I can make out on them is:

12.0 VHM K10/20
A1166 TITEX PLUS

14,0 K10
?28

Any idea what material they are? Do I have some solid carbide tools here?

An Ebay search reveals several drill bits and end mills with that designation (A1166 TITEX PLUS) All are priced in Canadian Dollars. Must be a Canadian product. But yes, they are all listed as carbide.

Thanks, I have some small carbide end mills but nothing this big so wasn’t sure what I had - looks like I have some bigger carbide tooling now.
