I just scored an Ellis drill press with a vise. Everything needs rehab. I am starting to disassemble the vise. I am having trouble figuring out how to remove the slides. I see no set screws or pins. Anyone know how to remove them?

From the picture on there web site it looks like there is a screw on the side of the non movable jaw.

I have a couple of those that I bought recently (2 different brands, a 4" and 8" that both seem to be constructed in the same fashion) best I can tell, they are pressed into the main casting - I can find no other mechanical means of fixing.

It is pressed in pretty firm. I am not able to drive it out. I am going to have to work out some sort of fixture to put it into my shop press.

I thought about trying harder to get my two apart, but decided I didn't want to risk damage. They both work quite well so I'll have to clean them up assembled. Let us know how you get on, I for one am curious.
