Double end boring bars

Don't forget that when using a bar cross drilled for a HSS cutter you have control of the cutter profile. If you need to let it all hang out to get the depth you need, grind a cutter with a sharper point to reduce tool pressure. The finish may be a little "thready" but it may get you over the finish line.

I have all the basic flavors of boring bars and tips, both HSS and cemented carbide. Maybe 1 or 2 with inserts. Adapt and change the cutting tip.

Just considering the best use of this type of bar.
Got and use them down here . I made quite a few out of Tungsten over the years for the added weight . The best use of these type bars are with large lathes and large deep bores . You wouldn't want to buy a 4" diameter Kennemetal bar . Use HSS or carbide and grind to suit .
