Hey Guys,

I've been reading again (always a dangerous thing), and wondered if there is any reason to buy these tools for a home workshop.

Do you find you ever need these? If so, what for?

Depth indicator?

Inside gage set?

Small hole gage set?

Pin Gage set?

Back plunger dial indicator set?

Cylinder bore Gage?

Thanks!

But Lane, do you actually use any of these in your home shop, and if so, what for?

Thanks,

Nelson

Depth Gage all the time when you are milling slots and groves are a step in something. The rest for checking hole diameter just depends on what size part i am working on .
Back plunger is handy in my south bend you can look down on it and tighten chuck true.

This is just from my experience:

Depth Indicator - Occasionally (often the depth function of my 6" dial caliper suffices)
Inside Gage Set- Occasionally for any bores larger that the small bore gages can handle
Small Hole Gage Set- Yes use this more often.
Pin Gage Set - Never (don't even own any)
Back Plunger Indicator - Have one but seldom use it.
Cylinder Bore Gage - Nope...pretty pricey for home shop use.
