I've seen several videos of people putting a lever type object on their standard dial indicators that allow force pushing from the side to activate their dial. I've seen them used to square the inside of a tube when using a 4 jaw chuck. Any idea what these are called? Thanks in advance.

I believe you're referring to a "hole attachment". Starrett makes a #670 and a 671 in a couple variants.

Unneeded, if you do a good deal of 4 jaw work above 4" buy a cheap 2" travel indicator made in China ,when you destroy it you haven't lost much, actually buy several.

I do a good deal of work like this, 5" X 8" X 3 1/2" with a 3" bore, a 2 inch travel indicator works a charm.
