Hi guys,
We are having trouble getting the crosslide to travel far enough without having to move the compound. Seems the manufacturer erred in the design and put 2 locating holes in the crosslide to compensate for not enough travel. My question is "Would it be ok to mill a slot where the crosslide nut hits at the back of the carriage to get more travel (and then make a longer screw)? Or would milling a slot weaken the casting?" Anybody else encounter this problem and if so do you have any suggestions? Also is there a better way to mount the compound to the crosslide? Thanks in advance for your time.
