My Grizzly G4003G lathe takes "250 series" tool holders,or so I thought. All my tool holder say "250" on them.

I recently acquired a used Phase II tool holder that plainly says "250" on it as well, but is an entirely different size. Doesn't even come close to fitting my tool post.

I've been assuming that the "250" was how to identify the size.

See below. Is the Phase II mis-marked or something?

I have a G4003G. It takes BXA or 200 series holders. I have no idea what the "250" signifies.

Excellent, thanks clueless.

That clears it up for me.

I'll take the Phase II to the NAMES show this spring and try to swap it for a couple tool holders I can use.

For the import QCTP stuff, don't pay attention to the first 3 numbers, all the tool holders pretty much start with 250. It's the last 3 numbers that will tell you the size & type of holder.

Your photo of the PhaseII holder on top is a 405. Series 400 is CA size.

My Phase II QCTP is labeled 250-200. It takes tool holders numbered as 250-201, the last digit will vary depending on the style.
A 250-405 like shown in your picture has a much wider dovetail that I have never seen before. It seems like the CA series as clueless and darker have already mentioned.
