Confused Red Bud Tree

It’s January 1st. Our golden red bud thinks it’s spring time.
New leaves and buds???

I live in michigan. My forsythia is starting to flower. Usually it flowers in early spring and that indicates it is time to put down crabgrass preventer. Surely won’t be doing that right now.

Same old same old. Dog poop around my trees. No buds.

Maybe related to not having enough winter chill hours. It has been fairly warm this fall and winter.

We have wild lilacs that bloom in the spring. They are everywhere, ranging from white to almost purple. Every year in the fall, a few of them will bloom again. I believe it is a day length thing.
